With it being Thanksgiving last weekend, I have been thinking a lot about all of the blessings and things in my life that I am (or should be) thankful for. I am SO blessed - and too often, I don't take the time to think about what I am thankful for, let alone to express that thanks out loud. So, I decided to try and become more aware of the blessings in my life each and every day. These blessings might be small, or they might be huge - but regardless, I need to be aware of them, and express my thanks for them.
Here are some of the things that I have been thankful for lately. This list is just the beginning ...
* A cup of warm apple cider, sitting on my desk beside me!
* The beautiful fall surroundings here in Ontario - so many coloured leaves, pumpkins, etc.!
* Being able to spend Thanksgiving with Frank and Noreen Filion - my mom's aunt and uncle
* My family - who love me, support me, encourage me, make me laugh and smile, and share life with me!
* Amazing friends - who are always there to encourage, hold me accountable, and enjoy life with!
* Being in Waterloo, fulfilling my lifelong dream of becoming an optometrist
* The opportunities that my future in the field of Optometry will hold
* New friends and classmates, that I have gotten to know over the past couple weeks
* The Wall family, who have opened their home to me and allowed me to be a part of their life
* My new roommates - Maddison, Heidi, Heather and Grace
* A new church family in Waterloo, with friendly, welcoming people
* A church family in Regina, with so many people that I love
* A God who continues to take care of me, pursue me, guide me, and love me - even when I don't deserve any of those things
And the list could go on and on! There truly are so many things to be thankful for! I just need to live with an attitude of thanksgiving - instead of only thinking about them around this time of year. Something to be worked on for sure!
I hope that you all are doing well, and had a great weekend!

So good to read your list of blessings Jilly. It is wonderful to focus on them at all times, but Thanksgiving gives us the little reminder that we need doesn't it? God is good. You are on my list of blessings. We are also blessed with the ability to communicate so easily with the internet aren't we? Even though you are far in distance, you are still so close when we can talk and see your face often.
Love, mom xoxox
Hi Jilly,
I am thankful for you! I am thankful for Barb, and Jonnie and Alicia and Dexter and Jasper. I am thankful for my family.
Love you Jilly

Hey Jill,
Just surfing around tonight reading some blogs and saw Harmony's link to yours. Glad to hear you're doing well in Ontario. I know it's hard being so far away from family, but you sound like you're adjusting great, which doesn't surprise me a bit! You and your family are so special to us. In fact, I think your dad is here in Calgary this week - I should give him a call if he promises not to rub in the fantasy hockey whuppin' he gave me! Anyway, I said a prayer for you tonight and am so glad to hear you're pursuing your dream. God bless,
Malcolm
