So, this is Christmas . . .

. . . and what have you done?

Christmas is fast approaching. People have already started giving thought to finding that "perfect gift" for their family or friends. As years go by, it gets harder and harder to find that "perfect gift". Speaking for myself, I know that the last thing I need is another knick-knack to fill my shelves, another bottle of lotion to add to my collection, or another sweater to hang in my closet. Simply put, I already have more than enough stuff (and I'm sure most of you reading this do as well).

So, may I make a suggestion (which may just make your hunt for the "perfect gift" much easier)? This year, instead of spending your money on more stuff - clothes, books, DVDs, CDs, or the newest electronic fad (which will be replaced by a new electronic fad in a couple months time) - why not spend your money on something truly meaningful, and something that lasts?

For ideas, check out these sites (and I'm sure there are many more) for catalogues filled with life-changing gifts that you can give:
World Vision
Christian Blind Mission International
Oxfam Canada

It's fast, easy, and you don't have to fight crowds at the mall. But best of all, you can know that your money is being well-spent, and is going to something that lasts. You might just make a child's or family's day or year or life, a whole lot brighter. And that is something that brings joy to my heart!

HEY! Don't forget to advertise for Zambia Mission Fund Canada! A person can donate to ANY of their programs and have the tax receipt made out to their family/friend in lieu of a gift! That's what I've done the past couple of years. In fact, the sponsorship program for HIV/AIDS patients - HOPE FOR TOMORROW can still use more sponsors to give treatment. It is great - only $35.00/month - which could mean that each member of your family gets a $35.00 tax receipt for their gift...and someone in Zambia gets to live and help their families for yet another year!!

I loved this blog Jill. Thanks for writing it....I might need to do a copy cat one;) Ideas like this really do put me in the holiday spirit....but going to the mall? No thanks.
:) Hope you're having a good day friend! Lets chat on the phone this weekend. Tonight maybe?
