I miss those days.

More than any other time of year, winter always brings back memories of childhood. I love winter, and some of my best memories are associated with the winter. Learning to skate on the backyard rink, pushing around a sled. Pick-up hockey games with friends and neighbours. Tobogganning down our little hill. Cross-country skiing in the park. 'Fox and Geese'. Snow angels. Forts made in the snowbanks in the front yard. Snow ball fights. Warming up to a fire in the basement after being outside skating for hours. Watching 'Hockey Night in Canada'. Ski pants and neck warmers.

The good winter memories continue. The rink is still there - and there is a new generation of young ones enjoying it now. But we still get to enjoy it too. Mostly late at night - but that's the best time to go for a skate.

I think when it comes to winter, I'll always be a kid. I just love being outside so much in the winter - there is so much fun stuff that can be done in the snow and ice. Other people can complain as much as they want about the cold and the snow - but not a word of a complaint will come out of my mouth when it comes to winter.

It will be good to be home in Saskatchewan for a couple of weeks, as right now, I'm living in the land of rain and mild weather. Doesn't exactly feel like less than ten days 'til Christmas. Oh man, it will be good to step out into the cold, crisp air in Regina on the 20th. Less than a week. Yes.

Such good memories that photo brings back. I love how you love winter - maybe helps me to have a little better attitude about it also. I will try to not complain about the ice and snow and cold.
Can't wait to see you on Wednesday. We will order up some nice crisp air for your lungs to breathe in.
Love, mom
