Nearly half done . . .

Well, with my completion of my exam this morning, I am now 3/7 of the way done. So far, I feel like they have all gone well. There's always a couple questions that, after the fact, I'm kicking myself about not remembering. But for the most part, I feel like I should be pleased with how these exams have gone. The last four should be alright too - not really looking forward to studying for optics or binocular vision, but those are still a whole week away.

Final exam time is such a weird couple of weeks. I always come out of them feeling like I've been holding my breath for two straight weeks, and can finally take a deep breath once they are all over. I also cannot focus on much else - my room becomes a bit of a mess, and I eat at weird times. Things that literally would take me 30 seconds to do have to wait until I am all done exams, because I can't focus enough on them to get it done.

Also, I've done some thinking on the whole process of finals. Here's my analogy of what finals are like: prior to the exam, you fill yourself to overflowing with information, to the point of feeling "sick" and not being able to squeeze another bit of information in. During the exam, you basically "throw up" all that information onto the paper. And as a result of your "throwing up" of information, you are completely turned off by even the thought of any similar information coming in contact with your brain in the near future. I wish it didn't have to be this way - I wish that we didn't have to cram things in prior to the final, and would be able to know it, just for the sake of knowing it and expanding our knowledge, and would be able to retain it for the future. Don't get me wrong - a lot of what I've learned I still know because I have to know it, but there is a lot of stuff that I've had to learn to survive on the final, and once the final is over, it's gone. Good or bad, I don't know - all I know is that I have some more information to cram into my head, this time for Diseases of the Eye. But first, I think a little nap is in order.

Hey Jilly,
You said it right!! When I think back to my exams many many years ago, I think that I felt the same. However, even though you think that you may never remember or use or recall that information again, surprisingly you may and will use some of it again at some time in the future. It will always be there for future reference in some deep crevis of your brain and you will be amazed at your ability to recall it in the future. It is all there in your brain for future reference. It is amazing how God created our minds to be able to store so much information in. God is great and totally amazing!!!

Good idea on the nap.

I wouldn't want to study optics or Binocular Vision either. Unless you get to study through Binoculars!
haha! Bet ya can't wait to come home and hear my great jokes eh?!
Oh dear...I think I need to go nap now too...before I hurt myself with all this silliness.

:) Keep up the good work friend.
