PICTURES!

here's a few pictures! enjoy!

alejandro, maria and reynaldo at cerro verde (the volcano we climbed on my first sunday here)

san salvador (from a lookout area on one of the mountains surrounding the city)

eating pupusas. last saturday night, we went for pupusas (traditional el salvadorean food) in an area of the city that is know for pupusas. the place we went was like a campground, with several buildings with picnic tables around each one. they all serve the exact same thing - not sure how they all stay in business! the place we went was empty when we arrived, but was full by they time we left. i think i brought them good luck that night - everyone wanted to eat where the white girl was eating! but the pupusas were awesome!

sunday afternoon meal with the italian couple, and their two adopted el salvadorean children. this couple and these two kids have been one of the surprise blessings of my time here. who would have thought that i would make italian friends while coming to el salvador? we have spent quite a bit of time with them though, as reynaldo speaks italian (as well as spanish and english), and has been helping these people while they are here adopting the children, and waiting for all the paperwork to be finished. the kids are fun (although a little crazy at times), and the couple are two of the most jovial people i have ever met. they don't speak english, and i sure don't speak italian, but it has been fun spending time with them here.

Love seeing your face and the face of the special new people in your life. You all look great. I hear happiness and contentment in your words and thank God for you and this wonderful opportunity you've been given. What a blessing! (The country looks beautiful also - some day I will come there to see for myself.)

Love, mom xoxo
