Life is plugging away here in Waterloo ... actually going quite fast when I think about it. I'm already done my first of five rotations here. I finished up my Low Vision time last week, and have now moved on to the Ocular Health clinic. We'll see how it goes ...

I've been spending excessive amounts of time reading, studying, and preparing for my Grand Rounds presentation on September 18th. This is the big assignment for 4th year. We make a 25 minute presentation on a case that we've seen, followed by questions and comments for another 20-25 minutes. I managed to be randomly drawn to present on the first day, so I've been busily pulling things together. As much as it sucks to go on the first day, I'm actually quite thankful. Firstly, I'll get it over with early, and won't have to spend the rest of the term thinking about it. Secondly, I won't have any notions on how it should be done based on other presentations ... so I can just do things how I want to. I've learned quite a bit about my topic with all the research I've done ... which is good, but I'm kind of getting sick of it. I'm looking forward to being done, and having time to do studying of other areas, as well as things that I would like to do, like pleasure reading or learning some more Spanish.

The good news is that the day after (Friday, September 19th), the African Children's Choir will be doing a concert in Cambridge. This is the same choir that was in Regina back in May, of which we had 3 boys and 1 uncle staying at our house for 3 days. See this page for my thoughts following their visit. I'm so excited to see the choir perform again, and especially to see Joseph, Daniel, Jerome and Uncle David again! It's a good way to start off the weekend, and to celebrate being all done my presentation!

Here's a picture of me, Alicia and dad with the three boys after a game of soccer in the park:

That is so cool, I can't wait to see them again as well! I am strongly considering applying to travel with them for a year as an "auntie" in 2010-2011 (I only have 2 years of school left, and will be done by then). Have a good week!
P.S. Got your email and replied :)

I am so excited that you get to see those special boys again. Give them a huge hug from Auntie Barb! I hope they pass back through Regina one more time!
