New Look

So, Life in Waterloo is officially coming to an end in about 10 days (not that I'm counting!) As I'm moving on to new and exciting things, I decided that it was time to give the old blog a makeover.

Near the beginning of this year, I stumbled on a blog by a girl named Nikki, found it to be quite interesting, and have continued to read it since then. Nikki blogs about her humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic, adoption, HIV/AIDS, fair trade, her volunteer work, her sponsor children (and lots more!), and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children around the world. She is full of all kinds of little ways that we can make changes in our lives to help make a difference in other people's lives. It has been inspiring to me to read of her experiences and to see the difference that she is making at home and around the world. Nikki is planning a trip to Ethiopia early in 2009, and a return trip to the DR in the summer. One of the ways that she raises funds for her trips is through designing blogs. So, with Nikki's help, I know have an amazing new blog to write on! I love it!

As of right now, I only know Nikki through the blog world, but on Saturday, I'm going to meet up with her in person! I'm pretty excited to hear more of her experiences (and plans for upcoming trips) from her directly!

So, if you would like a lovely new blog design, check out her site:
Blogs for a Cause (there is also a link on the sidebar)
Also, go check out her personal blogs:
Ends of the Earth
My Dominican Dream (about her work in the Dominican)
It Takes a Village (about her upcoming trip to Ethiopia)

I promise that you won't be disappointed! You can also enter her Charity Raffle (ending November 20) on her blog. There are some neat prizes, and 50% of the money raised goes to help fund her upcoming trip to Ethiopia, while the other 50% goes to World Vision.

Love it, Jilly! It looks great. I never tire of reading your news and your heart.

Thanks, Nikki, for sharing your talents in the blog world and with the less fortunate around the world. You are making a difference.

How neat that you two can meet on Saturday. When I am not so weary from report cards, I will check out the links you suggested, Jill. By the way, I have some fun, exciting news that came to me from Joan tonight. Check your email for a forward to fill you in.

Bed is calling.

Love, mom xoxo
