24/31 - crazy weather

I've never had my life revolve so much around the weather as it has these past couple months. It seems like every time I go home or to Winnipeg, the weather plays a huge role in determining when I can/can't go.

Here's some of what I have had to put up with:
-on my first weekend visit to Winnipeg, there was a blizzard on Sunday evening, which prevented me from going back to Brandon that night. I had to get up early on Monday morning and drive in
-in early February, I was in Winnipeg for a couple days at the laser centre. Driving in Sunday night was perfect, but we woke up Monday morning to a city covered in ice. The next two days were crazy - many patients couldn't make it in due to the closure of the highways, and the schedule for surgery changed so many times. After a crazy long day of work on Tuesday, we heard that they had opened up the highway, so we quickly got on the road, and thankfully, made it back safely.
-by Tuesday overnight though, it was no longer rain, but snow ... making driving somewhat chaotic with the combination of ice and snow. Thankfully, I don't have far to go in Brandon, but I was planning on going home on Thursday at noon so that I could go to the Bryan Adams concert that night. Highways were closed all day Wednesday, and opened up Thursday just in time for me to go. The roads weren't great, but they weren't too bad either. I made it safely though!
-coming back from Regina after that weekend, I ran into yet another storm, which slowed me down significantly.
-driving to Regina last Friday night, I hit some thick fog just outside of Regina.
-driving home on Sunday, it rained the whole way from Regina to Winnipeg. The worst part was Brandon to Portage, where it POURED. Thankfully, it wasn't freezing at that point, so I could drive fairly easily.
-and finally, Tuesday (today) all the rain from the weekend turned into sleet/snow. We wrapped up our day in Winnipeg and got on the road early. From Winnipeg to Portage, it was mostly icy from the rain. Portage to Brandon was where we hit the snow, and visibility was reduced in places. Again, we made it safely, and I got the rest of the day off! But now, there is a whole load more snow here!

CRAZY weather! I'm so ready for winter to be over, and to have sunshine, and be able to wear sandals and shorts! And to not have my life defined by the weather! I'm hoping things are clear this weekend when I go home again!
