Memories of El Salvador (1/31)

Tonight, a family from El Salvador from the church here in Brandon came over. We enjoyed supper together, and then shared pictures. They shared pictures of their homes and families, and I shared pictures from my time there this past summer. We talked about the country - places, people, the food. One of my favourite parts was seeing the wife's face light up, as I would mention a place or a certain food that she would recognize. It brought me much happiness to share in this way with them - and to be able to tell them how much I love their country.

Mostly, it made me glad that I have 'family' all over the world. I am so thankful for all the people that I have met through my travels - and for the ways they have opened their lives and homes to me. We truly are part of one big family!

It's hard to believe that it has been nearly 7 months since I was there. It seems like just yesterday! But the people and the experiences have never been far from my mind or heart ...
