My time here is Prague is nearly done. I leave tomorrow morning at 10, fly back to Frankfurt, and then eventually on to Tallinn, where I'll arrive around 6. I have loved being here - it is such a beautiful city, and it has been so neat to be here with Chelsa, and to have her show me around, and to be able to meet so many of the people that have been a part of her life over the past 2 years.
On Tuesday, after I first arrived, we had lunch at Chelsa's flat with two girls who are here for the summer with World Harvest. In the afternoon, we went for a walk and saw the Old Square, Wenceslas Square, the astronomical clock, and a whole lot of other beautiful buildings. :) In the evening, I got to join Chels with the rest of her AIA team for a send-off supper for her. So cool to be at that!
I managed to stay up the whole day of my arrival, and didn't get to bed until 11:30, so I crashed once we got back to her flat, and I slept through until 12 PM on Wednesday. Once I was up and ready to go, we went to the Prague Castle, and spent much of the afternoon wandering around in the grounds and the buildings. After we were finished there, we enjoyed a drink at a little restaurant before we went back to the flat for a little bit. For supper, we went to a couple's house from her Community Group from church. It was so neat to see another part of her community that she has here. While it's awesome to see the city, I also love to meet people, and to just see the community that they have here, and to feel a part of it, even if I'm just here for a couple of days.
Yesterday morning, we met a girl for breakfast at Bohemia Bagel, and then just spent the day wandering around the streets, going to see various gardens, buildings, sculptures, etc. Partway through the day, we got caught in a huge downpour, and had to wait it out under the Charles Bridge for a good long while before it was clear enough to venture out! We were soaked right through - but thankfully, it wasn't too uncomfortable to be walking around in wet clothes! We went for supper at a girl's house that Chelsa knows through AIA - her husband was out of town for a couple days, so she invited me and Chelsa over for supper and dessert.
Today, we went on a road trip to a city called Kutna Hora. I loved getting to see some of the countryside, and to see another city. We went to an ossuary, a couple churches, and just enjoyed walking through the streets. Tonight, we went for supper together at a restaurant called "The Last Mammoth" - it was yummy! And now, I'm packed up and ready to go tomorrow, and should probably get to bed soon!
It's been an awesome couple of days here! So awesome to see Chels and her life here! We've had some great conversations, and I've just loved hearing her heart. Old friendships are the best! Thanks for having me Chels! You were an awesome host - we'll have to get together once we are both back in Regina!
And now, on to Tallinn! I'm so excited to return there! I can't wait to step off the plane into a familiar place and see familiar faces!
And of course, here's a few pictures from Prague:
