FALL

I love the changing of seasons. And each season is my favourite while I'm in it. So right now, I'm loving the feeling of fall. Today is officially the first day of fall - but ever since the calendar turned from August to September, it's felt like fall. So, I've been loving the cooler temperatures. And yellow leaves. And pumpkins and corn and squash and apples. I feel like cooking soups and stews, and drinking tea, and cuddling up in a blanket on the couch!

Fall is beautiful anywhere - but I'm REALLY missing my falls in Ontario right now. I'd give just about anything to be able to walk the tree-lined streets from my house to Uptown Waterloo, and spend a few hours browsing in the bookstores and shops on King Street, followed by a chai tea latte. And then, I'd get in my car and drive out to St. Jacob's, soaking up the atmosphere and getting some amazing fresh produce at the farmers market. For Thanksgiving, I'd drive to Ancaster, admiring the incredible fall colours all along the way, and spend the time relaxing at my aunt and uncle's house, enjoying good food and good company.

But last year brought some new sweet fall memories too ... like road trips to Texas and Dallas Cowboys football games. And star-gazing, wrapped up in a sleeping bag and drinking tea, with Alicia, in a field just outside Regina. And random adventures involving chai tea lattes, 4-leaf clovers, and the Science Center playground.

Or I'd love to be back in Estonia right now, experiencing fall there. I have lots of summer memories in Tallinn, but I'd LOVE to see what the fall is like there.

But while I'd love to be back in Waterloo or at home or in Estonia right now, enjoying the fall season, I also know that this fall will hold some more fun memories for me. Especially with my friend (and new roomie), Erin, here. Lots of cooking, and even some bread-baking!! Some hiking in the hills. And maybe even a few scooter rides! So, I will enjoy where I am right now - rather than spending my life wishing that I was somewhere else!

Your description of fall in Ontario makes me want to go back too. Because of your time in Waterloo, I have so many fond Ontario moments. How fun it would be to wander the main street of St. Jacobs, eat at that yummy restaurant, and then head to Aunt Noreen and Uncle Frank's house for a warm visit and bed. We will just have to make some equally wonderful B.C. fall moments to share. Think them up by Remembrance Day.
