I've done enough travelling that I've come to expect the unexpected when I'm on my journeys. You just never know what you'll see, where you'll go, or ... who you'll meet. And never was that more true for me than on the streets of Rome this past summer!

We had just finished touring through the Vatican, and were about to head off to our next destination in the city (which was likely a gelato place!). But first, we had to head back around to the front entrance of the Vatican, as we had to pick up a back-up that one of my group had left checked there. As we walked up the sidewalk, which earlier that day we had spent hours waiting in line on, I looked up to see one of my good friends from my Optometry class making her way towards me. I had to do a double-take to make sure it was her! We were both so surprised to see each other - neither of us knew that the other one was going to be in Rome, let alone at the same time! And what are the chances that in a city the size of Rome that we happened to run into each other?! So crazy, so random, but so fun!

She just emailed me the quick picture that we took together - and I had to share! It's definitely one of my coolest travel stories yet!!

Neat story, Jill. A similar thing happened to me when dad and I went to Europe the summer after we were married. I ran into a high school friend at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Random and fun.
