a busy week.

this past week has been insane! i was so glad for the weekend to finally be here, so that i could have a few minutes to sit down and breathe. unfortunately, the weekend is now almost over, and i'm back to the craziness of another week.

the big news of the past week is that i bought a new laptop. the screen on my old one konked out. everything is still on the computer, i just can't see to do anything on it. kind of frustrating. it was going to be several hundred dollars to get it fixed, and would take 2-3 weeks (which i couldn't go for that long without one) - so i found a really good deal, bit the bullet, and just bought a new one. it's been really great so far. i spent hours yesterday transferring stuff from my old computer, and i think i finally have everything on my new one that i need for now. of course, the most important thing being my pictures! i was going crazy not being able to look at the pictures of my beautiful african babies!

everything is up and going now at school - which means my schedule if FULL. i have a feeling that it will feel like i live at the school this year (even more than past years). but it's fuller and busier in a different way than the past two years. it's not full of midterms, lab tests, and assignments - but rather group assignments, and most importantly, clinic! right now, clinic seems like this daunting thing to have to tackle every week - but i'm sure once i get the hang of it, it won't feel like such a big thing. speaking of clinic, i "saw" my first patient this past week. i say "saw" because i didn't really do anything. my patient wasn't into having students working on them (why do they come to the school clinic then, i ask?), so my supervisor performed the exam, and i observed and got to see some interesting things. it was a good learning experience - but i am still looking forward to overcoming that obstacle of seeing my very first patient on my own, which should be this week.

i played a hockey game this week. i'm playing on a campus rec team with several classmates. it always feels SO good to be on the ice, even though the skill level is slightly lower than i am used to playing. i've also been loving going to the gym. i try and get there everyday, if my schedule allows. the place i go is great - and it is so nice to just forget about school for an hour or so.

not much else is new in my part of the world. i was able to talk to jonathan and brittany on saturday morning. it was so great to talk to them, and hear about their adventures in york so far. sounds like they are having a great time!

that's it for now. hope you're enjoying your days!
